It’s the lucky 13th podcast and we switch things up a little this week. Instead of a normal roundtable we decided to take Mario Kart DS for a spin online. This is exactly the reason that there is no VoIP for this game! Warning…there might be some naughty words that slipped in.
Then DSgamer21 comes back and restores some sanity with a very atmospheric rendition of the Super Mario World Castle Music. 4cr reader Myles asks us what we think of the Nintendo Wifi Connection in the voicemailbag and then we have a new round of voicemails with a large amount of cartoon show clips. And of course, the voicemail wouldn’t be complete without LeedsGuy.

The Mario Kart DS thing was awesome, I would definitely love that each week, but I’m sure you all would tire of it or want to do a roundtable. Still, I am going to at the least, send a voicemail now.

First so so podcast i have heard, it was nice to hear you guys play, but took a bit too long, and this English chap talks is kind of boring to me.

Yeah, gonna have to say this is the first “so-so” podcast. The Mario Kart racing took a bit long and there wasn’t as much “meat” in this podcast as the others. But all that aside still enjoyable, looking forward to the next one!

Hey all, thanks for the feedback. Dont worry, Rebel in Japan will be back next week.
The Mario Kart Rountable was an experiment. It was certainly fun to record, although we werent sure if it would be fun to listen to. And we did it last minute so we did have a lot of time to edit it.
But it was fun and we are learning all the time.

I think the problem with the MKDS thing was we didn’t have too much idea of what was going on. A bit more of that could have made it better.

The only way to provide more information on what was going on during that race would have been video…
so Nick… it’s time for the introduction of VIDEO PODCASTS.
I enjoyed the racing segment though. It was nice to hear everyone yell at each other.

Yeah the racing was cool for the first four tracks but then all I heard was ya ya ya yoshi and it all went down-hill from there. I wouldn’t mind you guys playing a match of occasional retro games, now that would be freakin awesome. Seriously think about that one, get the music going good in the backround and I think it would really get your 4cr readers involved and it would be a catchy addition to the weekly podcast… other than that keep up the great work and yes I do envy DSgamer21’s piano skills for I am a pianist

Sorry about the lack of Rebel in Japan this week. I was planning to do one, but this rebel got sick. Look forward to the return of RiJ this week.
As for the video podcast, I say maybe do one a month or just for special occasions. I like listening to the casts while riding my bike or driving and I can’t do that with a vidcast.
However, if you do start with the vidcasts.. I already have a good video I took.

eek.. my internet connection has been down for the last week, so there’ll be no voicemail rants until I’m back online (Wes will be happy at least!)..;-)
I liked the theory behind the Mario Kart Podcast, although most of the time I had no idea what was going on.. it sounded fun though and some of the random comments made me laugh. How about a feature where people can share their play tips and strategies (best karts for particular tracks etc..), or even just thoughts on their own experiences of playing a particular game?..
