Something Awful is offering something really nice to chiptune fans; covers of hit songs like “Eye of the Tiger” from Survivor, “Yellow” from Coldplay and “Kashmir” from Led Zeppelin. The songs were completely remade using a synthesizer based on the classic Nintendo Entertainment System’s PSG audio system.

Awesome, I never thought I’d see SA mentioned here.

Mad props to the creators of these covers.. It’s interesting to hear how well some of these songs lend themselves to 8-bit interpretations!

Blah, at least the Final Countdown one sounds like it has been made with a mechanical conversion from MIDI->NES. Pitch slides have been omitted completely, and as result, some notes are completely wrong in a way that can’t be explained with a bad musician.
