‘Surprise, it’s the the DS mother load.’ This week we talk about the surprise DS conference and the new Wifi info. During the roundtable we try to stay on the topic of ‘Voting With Your Wallet’ and Vinnk talks a little bit about Fanboys in his latest ‘Rebel In Japan’ segment. DSgamer21 also tickles the ivory and provides us with another fantastic piano piece.

hey, does anybody know why my iTunes for some reason doesn’t download the last 8 minutes of each podcast? I opened up iTunes, let it automatically download, and it shows this podcast as being 41:21, when the runtime according to above states 49:38. Any help would be appreciated!!!
Baago - 10.10.05 12:57 am
BAAGO:
It does the same thing with all players.
I think it’s the way the .mp3 is encoded and make it store the wrong file info. The podcast files were like that since day one, I suppose we should ask Octorok about that.
But don’t worry, you’re not missing anything. The file you’re downloading is complete, just showing up as a longer playtime.
kreven - 10.10.05 1:04 am
Thats weird…
I don’t see anything abnormal with the encoding of the mp3, but I guess I never really looked into it. The encoding is 24bit - 11,025khz - 20kbps - mono - with a default mp3 codec
..Hmmmmm….

N Rumas - 10.10.05 1:20 am
Need new music for the podcast, getting sick of the japanese mario music.
Adam - 10.10.05 1:25 am
Genius idea, Vinnk
It’s the same way shopping for games in Korea. Nobody cares. What’s with America? I seriously don’t get it. It’s like everybody wants to jump on this or that side of the console fence and wave the company flag.
Awesome piano work, DSgamer21. They get better every time!
N Rumas - 10.10.05 1:28 am
If it isn’t much trouble could you let us know what the subject of the roundtable is ahead of time to let us give an opinion that relates to what you guys are talking about.
Thank Ye.
Hamblasto - 10.10.05 1:29 am
that’s kind of hard, since we usually waste like 1h before recording, deciding on what we’ll talk about., but yeah we could try
right guys?
CoffeeMan - 10.10.05 1:34 am

I for one have no problems with EBGames or GameStop in my area. If anyone is trying to push anything on anyone it’s me trying to shove Nintendo down their throats. And usually when I do this, it’s not at them but at my fiance who kids that we should get a PS2.
Nintendo Gal - 10.10.05 4:03 am
I went GameStop hopping on Saturday.. mainly to fatten my collection of GB games. Tracked down Mega Man III for GB, so now I just need IV for the whole set. Also picked up the GBA Super Ghosts and Goblins. Anyhow, I asked the person behind the counter at one of them if he had seen the new screen on the back-lit GBA SP units yet. So, I showed him my pearl blue one, and the reaction -as usual- is extremely good. After a bit of discussion with him.. it occurs to me that the majority of PSP owners only use their units for emulation. Since FFIV, FFV, FFVI are all coming to the GBA. If SquareEnix released Chrono Trigger and Nintendo of America stopped sitting on Earthbound.. there would be no reason for anyone to own a PSP. Especially when you have the new SP screen…
Anyhow.. I think I missed a podcast, so.. I’ll be searching through the archives for it. Do you guys just delete the podcast off your servers when a new one shows up? Or are you archiving them somewhere?

Ah I love this podcast. Rebel in Japan is such a great editorial.
I think you guys need to put some game reviews in your podcasts.
Eddie - 10.10.05 8:01 pm
Another good one. It’s nice to sit back and listen to them. I also thought the cat part was silly. Perhaps you could slip in some more surprise guests? Which one of you guys does that lady voice at the end?
SavageS - 10.10.05 8:38 pm
Eddie, send us a review through voice mail

Rebel in Japan = PlusPlusAwesome!!
Keep up with the amazing podcasts.
Daedalus - 10.10.05 10:47 pm
Kreven, Baago’s right. Mine’s done the same thing for the past two podcasts now - iTunes doesn’t download the whole podcast. It’s not that it’s all there but not showing properly, IT’S MISSING DATA. It cuts out in the middle of Rebel in Japan. Seriously guys, I love the podcast, but if you can’t get that fixed, I’m going to have to unsubscribe, and I doubt I’ll be the only one.
Tetsuo - 10.10.05 11:27 pm
That’s strange… I listen to it every week via iTunes and while the length is displayed incorrectly, it’s all there. I will check into it. Sorry that you are not getting it, I hadn’t noticed that problem. In the meantime you can download the file directly off the site, but like you, I appreciate the convience of iTunes. We’ll try to get this sorted out ASAP. To the other iTunes Users: Does it work for you?
Vinnk - 10.11.05 1:42 am
OK, I just checked the file again - it works fine if I skip to the end of it on iTunes, but on my iPod it just cuts out in the middle of RiJ. And given that I generally don’t listen to podcasts on anything other than my iPod, that’s frustrating. But thanks for saying you’ll check it out. It’s a weird one, so good luck!
Tetsuo - 10.11.05 7:30 am
Tetsuo, I had always been listening to them on my computer. But today I tried it on my 3G iPod. It all seemed to be there. I listened to the entire Rebel in Japan segment and it didn’t cut off. But there is clearly something wrong with the file as it has a messed up timer. The staff as discussing this right now. Please keep up posted on the errors you are having. Thanksw for sticking with it even though it is frustrating. We really appreciate the help.
