Nintendo’s WiFi site is now open!
Right now the only thing on the site is a “Coming in November” teaser. I guess that will be the online portal, where we’ll be able to work on our “Friend List” and things like that. Until then we’ll have a game to keep us entertained starting next week.

and it’s free

I’m really excited to see how Nintendo’s going to execute this. Imagine having joinable communities that pool into your friend’s list!

Whoo, this’ll be the site we use (most likely) to trade buddy lists etc. Bookmark!!

it sounds cool. I mean, if the Bounty was not going on.

I’m digging the logo more and more
N Rumas - 09.29.05 10:49 pm
Hey N Rumas, it looks like they have modified the logo slightly? What do you think?
Eddie - 09.29.05 11:01 pm
That’s only a little more then 4 weeks away
SavageS - 09.29.05 11:04 pm
Can’t wait to see how this all works out!
sdsichero - 09.29.05 11:15 pm
I like the logo more now too. When it was just the static logo it was ok, but now - with the spinning - it’s like a flaming ball of hot sex.

SAVAGES - 4 weeks ?
If Mario Kart is in fact the first online game.
That means there is 6-7 weeks
Nicol@s - 09.29.05 11:53 pm
Wow.. Now That Just Makes Me Even More Exited..
gah, I Can’t Wait!

Lovely but theres just one thing missing. But this thing is going to needs a killer app. Pokemon or Advanced wars online would be lovely.
John - 09.30.05 12:28 am
Animal Crossing and Mario Kart aren’t killer apps?
Hamblasto - 09.30.05 12:36 am
Eddie-Something looks better, that’s for sure. Maybe it’s just the motion, though.
N Rumas - 09.30.05 2:46 am
All I have to do now is buy a router and I’m set! I wonder if Nintendo’s gonna be jumping on the bandwagon and getting a countdown clock too…
I just hope that when it rolls out, they’ll be able to support all the DS owners who’ll be jumping on it the moment it goes live

I guess Metroid Prime: Hunters is going to be online, so that may qualify as a killer app. Halo was nothing more than an console fps with hacked netplay and IT was a killer app. So was Goldeneye and it didn’t even have netplay at all. If you fps, they will come.

Nintendo just let out some details about Animal Crossing: Wild World’s multiplayer modes — specifically mentioned is how the friends lists will work.

Anyone knows what will be the international policy? For example, will european players be able to play with the us version of Mario Kart?
darkripper - 09.30.05 10:40 am
darkripper — I believe the stated intent was to allow games that were localized in the same language to play with each other. So, in theory, an American release would be able to communicate with a European release set to English, for example. Can’t find a source offhand though.

this’ll be cool. since videogame arcades are hard to find these days, nintendo wi-fi will be like the new generation of arcades.

I cant say I loved that logo the first time I saw it. But, with that little extra flair when its animated I can defintely say I dig it now. The color scheme is also very nice. Woot.

Well, Nintendo has said it themselves that this is a world-wide thing (with saying various things like “Imagine playing Mario Kart with someone in a different continent”). The games may have different codes, but I’m sure that Nintendo will make it where the games can communicate with each other across territories via WiFi. They’ve (meaning game makers, not neccessarily Nintendo) been able to do this with other online games like FFXI: Japanese gamers got in first, and then later on, gamers from other territories were able to get in and play as well together even though they’re from different territories and speak different languages. It’s not too far-fetched of an idea for Nintendo to have all its children playing together.
