[Now Playing| Advance Wars DS]

Nintendo will be rolling out its Wifi Connection soon enough. Take a look at this leaflet that has been given to retailers. Sounds like all the bases are covered. Also, check out the new Wifi logo that will appear on DS boxes. A little too bubbly for me, but it wont really matter once Im whooping up on someone in Mario Kart who lives across the country.

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

The WiFi Connection logo is too cute. It’s in a nice location on the box too rather than being all pimped out like “I’m WiFi Connection, I’ll rule you mofo!” Just a mere month or so wait left. I hope I won’t embarass myself too much in MarioKart
NekoTsukimi - 09.19.05 5:17 pm
i could swear they said something about first-party online would be free, but they are leaving it open for third-party developers for any online play (i.e. an mmo). the logo is meh. i can’t wait to play this…and i wish they delayed nintendogs to make that online.
daniel schroeder - 09.19.05 5:30 pm
Delay Nintendogs to make it online? I think not
Nintendofreak - 09.19.05 5:33 pm
Whoop, whoop! I can’t wait
SavageS - 09.19.05 5:48 pm
I’m glad Nintendo have acknowledged Xbox Live - if any console online service has been brilliant at what it does, it’s Xbox Live. Not free mind you, but it’s not really that expensive either…
Steve Pick - 09.19.05 5:50 pm
‘Next year, many more games will be added to the portfolio, including Animal Crossing…’
Wait… Animal Crossing is being delayed, again?
SithLord - 09.19.05 5:59 pm
the logo remind of ” nintendo’s seal of quality” !!!!!!!!!
MACRAMAN - 09.19.05 6:03 pm
No, Animal Crossing is still 2005. So either that document is from Europe, or it isn’t from Nintendo.

So what is this talk of connecting to a PC through a USB connection point? That doesn’t sound like being instantly compatable with the wireless signal.
Why oh why are they saying that next year many new titles will be added to the online portfolio, including ACWW? This BETTER not mean what I think it does.
The logo is okay I guess. I would much prefer it if it was just that blue earth made of squares that they used in the wifi trailer.
Ultimately though, I’m really happy about the way Nintendo is implementing their wifi system. Exchanging codes sounds like a really good way to make a ‘buddy list’.
hokku - 09.19.05 6:18 pm
ac better not be fucking delayed. im hoping this is fake because they have “Metroid Prime Hunter” listed and there are some spelling mistakes, like “meagre” instead of meager. the entire thing is written like a retarded baby wrote it… which, if ac is delayed, then nintendo is a group of retarded babies.
CurtSchilling - 09.19.05 6:19 pm
Agh, it’s like some lazy retard spent 3 seconds in photoshop trying to make a pre-school toy logo.
Silver Axe - 09.19.05 6:27 pm
The leaflet like is down. Is there anyone who has it that could upload it to imageshack.us or something?
Kerry - 09.19.05 6:28 pm
Somebody at DS-Gamer upped it to imageshack. Enjoy!

but yeah i cant wait

Thanks!

Don’t quite understand why you are all saying how much the logo sucks. It’s a blue circle with some text, how can it suck? It looks fine.
aechris - 09.19.05 8:19 pm
Hokku: Nintendo are going to be making a USB device that you hook up to your internet-enabled computer through any USB port which will instantly allow your DS to use the wi-fi network (see here: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=60065). It’s an alternative for people who don’t already have a wireless router, and a must for anyone with a DS in that camp! What’s more, apparently it will even work with the Revolution when it’s eventually released. I’ll be getting one, no doubt about it.
As for the logo: I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s not oozing style but it’s not hideous either. It serves its purpose just fine.
Pikachelsea - 09.19.05 8:43 pm
Yeah, the logo’s a bit bubbly, but I still like it.
N Rumas - 09.19.05 8:46 pm
Someone clear this up for me. Is wifi really going to be available in like Russia and India or just in the States.
and “programme” “per cent”? Sounds English.
Are we really talking about WORLDWIDE?
funtographer - 09.19.05 9:04 pm
Huh? This sounds pretty opposite of what Nintendo was telling us early on.
Here they make it sound like you need to use the USB addon if you’re at home, and that the current Wifi service providers will need to supplement their current service with something to make it Nintendo Wifi compatible. I hope I’m wrong, because that sure isn’t happening at my high school.
Please, Nintendo, please make it compatible with a standard Wifi connection… otherwise that’s a serious dealbreaker.
strayPhoton - 09.19.05 9:42 pm
first of all, i wouldnt even go by that stupid leaflet. it looks fake as hell and is written by a retarded baby monkey.
second of all, nintendo online will be accessible through any wi-fi. there is no such thing as nintendo wi-fi compatible because any wireless internet connection will do.
CurtSchilling - 09.19.05 10:13 pm
You know it’s for you Curtschilling
NOWAY - 09.20.05 3:14 am
“Here they make it sound like you need to use the USB addon if you’re at home”
You don’t. It’s ONLY for people without wireless access in their home already.
ropi - 09.20.05 6:49 am
…and going from the recent article on Eurogamer, the leaflet is real.
ropi - 09.20.05 7:16 am
The leaflet is from the UK in europe.
Ben - 09.20.05 8:00 am
“first of all, i wouldnt even go by that stupid leaflet. it looks fake as hell and is written by a retarded baby monkey.”
How dare you! I’ve seen it in the shops, hell, I picked one up. Just cause it isnt from USA doesnt mean it’s fake.
Ben - 09.20.05 8:16 am
Sorry actually, it’s from a magazine.
Ben - 09.20.05 8:18 am
The little article seems to focus on the lowest common denominator: people who have a DS and really don’t know how the whole WiFi thing is gonna work for them.
As for the WiFi compatibility with existing hotspots, what I’m thinking is those that require some type of authentification before you can actually get onto the network; so instead of the DS nagging a WiFi point going “Can I get on? Can I get on? Can I PLEASE get on!?” and the WiFi connection saying “I do not know you get away from me~”, it’ll instead welcome the DS with open arms.
Either that, or the whole “making compatible” is just the companies putting the Nintendo WiFi connection logo in their window advertisements.
NekoTsukimi - 09.20.05 9:19 am
:) Hell yeah, Nintendo’s online strategy is exactly how it should be! Online gaming should be a free tool used to expand the game, not a chargable ’service’, condescending the customer..
If they do this across to the Revolution (which the leaflet hints at “starting with the DS”, then i’ll give my first born to Nintendo!
Spod - 09.20.05 11:12 am
Strayphoton, they meant they were upgrading the DS demo stations that you see in stores. Not people’s actual home wi-fi connections
Pikachelsea - 09.20.05 4:02 pm
It seems a shame that Nintendo are choosing to run the wifi connection without any ‘peripheral communication methods’ eg text chat(like MSN messenger/Gaim/IRC etc or any VoIP facility. I understand that Nintendo want this system to be safe for the little kids, but its a bit of a shame. Maybe it will be supported by third party developers instead…. for a cost…
Regmundio - 09.20.05 4:38 pm
the logo reminds me of Waking Life.
