The first official proof of Xenosaga for the DS is here. The game is, in fact, a port of Xenosaga 1 & 2. Its a pretty bad scan, but you can see a clean looking 2D isometric game and some nice looking cutscene pics.

Worth mentioning: it’s Xenosaga I+II — a 2-D port of the original two PlayStation 2 games.

ooh, pretty.
This is good because I never played any game in the series.
Yay for DS RPG love!

Wow, I’ll keep an eye very close to that game.

I think you guys are jumping the gun here. The game isn’t called “Xenosaga I + II”, it’s “Xenosaga I-II”. Rather than a port, it’s most likely a branch that shows what happens in between the two games, kind of like what Chain of Memories is doing for the Kingdom Hearts series.

Thores — that’s not what 1UP is saying.

There’s also some scans out for Xenosaga ep.III for those who are interested. There’s been some horrible (or horribly translated) news that it’ll be the last xenosaga game. I was really looking forward to the later episodes, but maybe it’s for the best. Still, i’m somehow looking forward to episode3 with the promises that it concludes things. Also said that it’ll be longer than epII, which is good. And I suppose it’d have to be if it were to conclude things.

This looks REALLY GOOD!
Since I never was able to finish the first Xenosaga, I’ll definitely have to pick it up.

Yeah this game definitely has a lot of potential. And it’s hard to believe a cart based system will get such an epic RPG. Music may be the biggest factor in whether it’s good or not.

Maybe we’ll get to play the games rather than watch them!

Iwata’s speach is in 30 hours !!! and he must pull something huge this time, I just saw some MGS4 scans…..and I’m really sad to say…it has never seen before real time graphics.. damn it , I wish that MGS is nintendo exclusive, but well who knows what nintendo have for us, may be metal gear will look obsoletely ridiculous

Yup, I will buy this one. No question. I love the Xenosaga series. But frankly I am a bit shocked that they are taking 2 games that came on 3 DVDs and putting them on a tiny DS cart. I can’t wait for more information.

Where are these MGS4 and XS3 scans you guys are mentioning?!!
Goober - 09.14.05 10:44 pm
Why are ppl rebuying a game /w worse gfx than PS2 port’s gfx (also outdated)? Does Nintendo have a cart that’ll fit that kind data? Sounds like a huge game!

I’d be a) buying it for the first time and b) buying it because I prefer pixels to polygons. It’s not so much inferior as it is a different style, y’see.

Because it is set to be a reimagining of the first two games restructured to be expressed in colorful hand drawn 2D sprites.
There are a good number of folks who still find that form most attractive in a game.
Then too, for people who played it already, this version seems to be Namco’s way of abridging the story thus far and arranging all the story threads neatly in time for Xenosaga III.
The DS game will still feature movies, but a good chunk of the presentation will need to be rescripted, and I’m willing to bet they have talented folks who can combine beautifully drawn stills, small animated sequences and movies with the dual screens to make a kick ass presentation.
