Hello Player 1
[Now Watching| Constantine]
Nanostray should be in stores today or tomorrow. Early reviews are saying that the game is firmly in the ‘B’ range. It seems to be a little short and have a few other nagging issues, but ultimately sounds worth it. Check out a few reviews:

I checked 3 stores in my area. No show.
Damn, I really want this title. I loves me some vertical shooters!

It’s a shooter, how long do they expect them to be?

yeah, rode my bike out earlier today to Circuit City, Best Buy and Wal-Mart. The first two didn’t even have record of it in their database.
Oh well, got some excercise

You start early, ahem…BP. I’ve confirmed with the local shops here (Chicago) that they recieved shipment last night, and will be on sale today. I’ll post my impressions later this afternoon.
Should we be posting impressions on the boards instead of comments section?

Probably…then you could be more extensive. Either way I dont care. But I would love to head what people think of the game.

hey Boon-
do you live in chicago or in a close suburb? cause i’ve been dying for some multiplayer DS action…

Boon, SectumSempra, I live in Chicago (Near West) and have a small group of devoted DS friends. If you are interested in getting up for some WAN action, I know for a fact we’d all be down.
As for Nanostray, it’s made me realize I’m a graphics whore, because I can’t wait to get it but I’m familiar with Shin’en and frankly…both Iridions were kind of disappointing to me, little more than Silpheed clones. I don’t want to sound elitist, like I’m some sort of shmup-master, but it is one of my favorite genres and their games tend to be strong on presentation & weak on gameplay (much like the Silpheed series, at least as far back as Sega CD). Which isn’t to say they aren’t fun. I just like one-hit kills & bullet rain, and I feel like their games are too easy.

SectumSempra, Matt, and any other Chicagoland peeps…LETS GET TOGETHER. I’m near I-290 and Harlem if that gives you an idea. EMAIL me and we’ll hook up for sure. emailben[AT]gmail[dot]com…I’d really like to be a part of a dedicated group.
I’ve also been a real sucker for shooters since I was 5 or 6 years old with games like Life Force, Gradius, Gun Nac (oh yes..) and Legendary Wings. It’s hard for new games in this genre to compete with the great memories. Psyvaria, Mars Matrix, Bangai-O…Ikaruga: They’ve all done great jobs in breathing new life into shooters, and I’d REALLY like to put Nanostray right up there with them. I’ve secured my copy of Nanostry today during lunch, but I’ve yet to play it since my DS is at home and I’m at work. So, here’s to hoping.

Uhh…so why has EB pulled Nanostray from their release calendar & sent out an email to their stores informing retailers that they won’t be carrying the game? And it hasn’t arrived ANYWHERE that I can find (in Chicago) — I’ve called Gamestop, Ebgames & Gamecrazy. Does this have something to do with Majesco’s ongoing financial problems? Not ONE person I’ve spoken with has had anything even approaching substantive to say about it or its release. Does anybody actually have it?

I’m in the same boat. I was told on Tuesday that I could pick it up Wednesday morning from the local gamestop (I’ve had it pre-paid for awhile now). Wednesday passes…Called all day today, and they have no idea either. The title shows up as “ACTIVE” in their system, meaning it should be on the shelf. Really friggin bizarre. Glad it’s not just me, though.

Finally found it. Toys R Us is the only place that seemed to both have it & be completely oblivious to the controversy surrounding its release. I even called Majesco and they were alternately evasive & confused. Finally I got the guy to admit there were problems with distribution but he wouldn’t clarify why. EB had the gall to tell me the game was cancelled.
In other news, it’s a pretty great game. A complete package & tons of fun. Not particularly difficult, but the Challenges (a series of goal-based takes on completed levels) are just that & the ‘wow’ factor just won’t quit.
