GBA’s Last Stand

[Now Playing| Meteos - DS]

1up has a nice article about the GBA, similar to Benny’s excellent Game Boy Retrospective. While they are a bit doom and gloom about the GBA, its a great read about what is in store for the GBA and how their is still life left in the little system.

It’s been a long, strange trip for Nintendo’s Game Boy family. Since its 1989 debut, the family of systems that began with a blurry two-inch screen in four shades of green has somehow dominated the market in defiance of technologically superior competitors. Canny marketing, affordable pricing and killer apps like Tetris and Pokémon have given a commanding lead to Nintendo’s portable moneymakers. Lynx, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, N-Gage: All have foundered before the unstoppable power of the Game Boy.

But it would seem the end is nigh.
