Wiki Gets A Facelift

[Ironically Now Playing| Wind Waker - GC]

Remember this game? Wiki is a MMORPG being made in Korea. The game gained some notoriety when it ‘borrowed’ the look of Nintendo’s own Zelda: Wind Waker. This is what we have after some lawsuits. A new logo and some slightly different character designs.

You can find some pictures and videos on their site if you are interested:

The best MMO’s are made in Korea, Razan. I play Ragnarok Online right now and I plan to play Granado Espada. Both are very good and fantastic MMOs.

I couldn’t believe what a blatant ripoff of the character design and logo this was when the story first come out. Looks like barely anything has changed. Wow, he’s a redhead… big deal. If I didn’t know better, I’d still think that was a screenshot from Wind Waker.

I wish MORE games looked like the Windwaker, but this one is just a tad too similar.

Also Ragnarok is hilarious.

From What I saw at E3, this game looks pretty decent, though the backgrounds look a little bland.

I used to play ragnarok, now i’m playing Guild Wars

I really like the wind waker graphic style, but I sitll don’t think people should rip it off so blatently. Link may have some new threads and a new haircut, but thats still obviously Link…

hmm, I didn’t know that every cel-shaded chibi anime character was Link.

Oh wait, they’re not. Now while this might be a ripoff of Link(because Korea is infamous for making off-brands of popular games), it’s not really the art style that makes it so. It’s because the country where the game comes from is known for copying popular IPs. If this game came from anywhere else, but looked exactly the same, it wouldn’t be trying to steal ideas from Zelda. It’s an art style people and Zelda doesn’t own it.

Also… it’s an MMORPG, meaning you can make your character look however you want. There is no main character… Nick happened to pick the screenshot shown of this particular character because he looked most like tWW Link.

I’m gonna miss Wind Waker.

I like Twilight Princess’ style now that it FINALLY is more than just “mature”, but Wind Waker was incredible.

Funny that others end up carrying that torch because kids were scared that a little color in their lives would make them revert to pre-puberty.

It still looks almost exactly the same as windwaker, and its completely obvious that they ripped off the style from them, especially if you’ve seen the early screenshots (in which the character featured looks nearly identical to Link). I don’t care what country it came from and I’m not basing my opinion on that. I’m not saying Nintendo has a patent on an art style or anything, I’m just saying practically EVERYONE who sees a shot of this is instantly going to think of wind waker because it looks so similar.
