Revolution Dated?

According to MCV, the Revolution will come out in the states first, with a November 2006 release and shortly after it would release in Japan. People from Europe are not to expect it before spring 2007.

Here’s a quote:

But speaking to MCV after the event, a senior Nintendo source outlined the company’s current thinking. “Revolution will launch towards the end of next year,” the source said. “We’re currently looking at mirroring the DS strategy, so Revolution would release in the US first in November, closely followed by Japan ““ then we’re looking at March 2007 for PAL territories.”

Keep in mind that this is still speculation, as nothing official has been announced. Nintendo has also recently stated the importance of Europe for its continued growth, so hopefully a Euro release date wont be far behind the others.

Geez…it’s so far away. I just got a gamecube last night though…so I have something to hold me over. Does anyone know when the new Zelda comes out?

I don’t think, it’s the real date. nintendo doesn ‘t have the software to handle 2006 for GC.

Zork on May 27, 2005 at 2:45 pm

Darn… I was kinda hoping it would be sooner than that.

I refuse to believe this. I’m sticking with mid-2006.

What? Europe’s getting the short stick AGAIN???? I mean, SPRING 2007??? Do Nontendo think that the Game Cube will last ANOTHER two whole years, even with all the new Mario games????

I just hope they bring it a year forward, so then I can be happy again.

nah no way, nintendo tried to make a big thing about releasing before the PS3 which is set to release spring 2006, if this were true then nintendo would have the oppertunity to hold off any revolution announcments for spaceworld 2006 allowing them to create incredible hype just before it came out, they said that this method of releasing information close to release date worked for the ds and they want to try it for the revolution as well, but they have also said they we will definitly release all info about the revolution before the end of THIS year meaning that i have a feeling nintendo are being very devious and may have a far earlier date in mind, mabye just after e3 2006 i suspect, now if i were to really go into my little conspirocy theories then its possible that nintendo had one of its main components supplyers (the ones who “accidentally” said mid 2006 release) announce a fake release date as to hide the possibility of a far earlier launch than we suspected, that would create masses of hype coupled with the hype created from releasing the info on the system, i like to think nintendo have a secret ace up their sleeves

it’s funny how people refuse to believe new information. a senior nintendo source says it’s coming out at the end of 2006 and people just say “no it’s not, it’ll be mid-2006″.

looks like the revolution’ll take last place in the uk, just like the gamecube. this bites. i’m about ready to give up on it, to be honest.

MCV doesn’t exactly have a great track record when it comes to their inside sources.

I say that Nintendo will launch Revolution in Japan in March-April at the same time as PS3 and it will launch in the US in August-September after E3 to create buzz and allow for all first adopters to deplete supply. Then a second larger shipement occurs mid-November for the Christmas sales here in the US.

Hmm, we’re getting shafted again. Europe is thriving in videogame sales at the moment, which is more than can be said for US and Japanese markets, and yet we still get the last lick of the console ice cream.

It’s not new information, just speculation. It just seems like it would be smarter to release it before November 2006. Otherwise, it would go against what Nintendo’s been saying all along, “launch around the same time as competitors”.

Maybe that’s why? If the games are selling well anyway, why release a new system there sooner?

…because it would be a nice thing for them to do. Here’s a nicer thing – a simultaneous system launch like Xbox 360 is doing. That to me makes perfect sense, especially with the online aspect. No one is going to have much of an advantage with games this way. Hopefully simultaneous game launches will follow too.

Actually, instead of seeing a half rushed release of the next generation, even if it would be the best option in a certain wanted time frame, what I think Nintendo should do is simply time THIS generation games cleverly instead.

Basically, the main idea (that I would personally love to see) is a worldwide September 1st release of a Game Boy Micro and Play-Yan bundle. That would DEFINATELY affect some European PSP sales, right?

Anyway, so yeah, time this generation right and the next may not seem so bad.
