Hello Player 1
[Giddy As A School Girl]
Its almost here. With E3 only days away, 4 color rebellion is going into E3 mode. What does that mean? Well, it means your new homepage should be set to:
In order to provide you with the fastest source of E3 news we can, all info will be posted on that page. We are going to go to a barebones system for the show. I mean, you saw what happened with the deluge of info today…post after post.
So, youll get all the links and news you need without any extraneous info. Of course, regular service will resume after the show.
Besides the E3 page there will also be discussions and E3 news going on at the IRC chat and the Forum. Make sure to check them out.
[ 4cr IRC Chat ]
[ 4cr Forum ]
NOTE: Unfortunately, there will be NO RSS FEED for the E3 page. Wordpress just doesnt work that way. But its worth opening that browser for 4cr, right?

Awesome. You and CGcafe are my prime E3 resources come next week. Oh, and not to be picky or anything, but you spelt ‘You’ll’ wrong. Xp

Haha. Well, if youve been reading the site for long, youll see that I hardly ever put apostrophes in. Lazy? I a bit. They are also kinda ugly and pretty useless in words that are obviously a contraction.
Anyway, thanks for the words of praise and I hope to be able to keep everyone up to date during E3.

EXCITED!! – the understatement of the month!
Kerry on May 14, 2005 at 10:06 pm
Heh, no problem. I have been reading for a week or so, I just happened to notice that this time.
I just enjoy the way the articles are written and how quick the site is updated. The site is always the first to be updated and usually has information I can’t find anywhere else.

I’ve got a $1 that says this gets confusing.
hokku on May 15, 2005 at 2:21 pm
well of course, confusion is the prime condiment to go with your serving of E3.
drGherbik on May 15, 2005 at 5:08 pm
I wasn’t addressing E3, i was addressing 4cr. The changing of formats to somehow accomidate the mass of information that’ll be put out in the next few days hints of problems. We’ll see though.
Nick on May 15, 2005 at 6:45 pm
Hmm, Id like to know what problems you think this will create?
See, the problems I am trying to avoid are:
-Hundreds of individual posts about E3
-A massive spike in bandwidth usage for every little article
-And as you point out, lots of confusion. I believe that by focusing 4cr’s (and readers) attention to a single place, I can save all of us confusion.
Plus, we dont have anyone specifically reporting from E3 for 4cr. All I can do is report the news at this time.
But dont worry, all will be back to normal soon enough, possibly even the 18th depending on how much info seems to be spewing from E3.
drGherbik on May 15, 2005 at 11:53 pm
Thats all fine and good, but I think the change from the standard posting format isn’t necessary and will add confusion rather than actually avoiding it. Although, i’m not beyond admitting i could be completely wrong.
Why not just create a single daily post that has its own comments thread and updating within that? No need for a /e3 directory. Why reinvent the wheel?

Cuz I like square wheels!
drGherbik on May 16, 2005 at 8:59 am
Fair enough.

I think the lack of RSS is a bad idea.
If I check the HTML as often as my RSS aggregator would have checked my RSS the sum total of bytes downloaded will significantly increase, no?
Nick on May 16, 2005 at 10:58 pm
Sorry, I cant get an RSS feed to work on anything but the main page. It just doesnt seem possible in Wordpress.
Hopefully, tomorrow night we will go back to normal posting.
