N64 Disk Drive On Ebay

[Now Playing| YTaG - DS]

Anyone remember the disk drive add on for the N64 called the 64DD? It was basically a zip disk for the N64 and was going to be used to…well, I dont remember. It only made it out in Japan and only had a few games. Still, its interesting as a Nintendo collectors item. Check out the list of released games and the current Ebay auction for this rare piece of Nintendo history:

This thing never seemed all that exciting to me. I guess the idea of having larger read/write media for a console has potential, but the games were more like production apps.

Thanks for posting that man! I seriously want to get it. It comes with some rare stuff. Going to be worth a lot some day, and quite an honorable keep in the inventory.

OOt was suppose to be on a 64DD disk, but they dropped the idea …for the best I think.

Actually, an expansion for Ocarina of Time was supposed to be for the 64DD. I think it was called Zelda: Gaiden, but it eventually became Majora’s Mask.

Nop…. OOT was suppose to be a 66DD port not majora’s mask.

I thought that the OOT master quest was what was released on the 64DD, but I could be mistaken.

nintendo was planning to release the 64DD along with zelda OOT , but the drive was born dead and OOt was relased on a regular N64 cartridge ( a bit heavy in comparison with the regular ones )

Master Quest was released on the DD, it was like an expansion disc…. I think.
