Its the Revolution rumor that wont die. This time, Game Informer is reporting that the innovative feature will be a touch screen on the controller. A couple of weeks ago a EA employee (supposedly) said the same thing. Didnt Iwata already tell us it wasnt going to be a touch screen?
Oh, and my brother Matt thinks he knows what the real deal is. He believes that the proposal of gryos is correct. He also believes that the prongs on the controller will be able to turn and will feature force feeback of some sort. Plus, since gyros revolve…the name Revolution fits perfectly.
I guess we will see. Ahh, come on E3, I must know the truth!

i think the touch screen controller is pretty neat idea and sounds like it’s reasonable. Even if Iwata said it wasn’t going to be the “revolutionary feature” it could still be a feature, right? The gyro thing seems plausible too, but prongs sound like a bad idea to me. I mean, that’s just completely unappealing to me. Stuff like that should just be left to the ‘Bob It’ toy.

I got to play with one of these on a friend’s media machine last weekend.

The moment I started playing with it, I KNEW it had to be integrated into console games. Once you try it for yourself, you realize it truly is revolutionary.
I’m puttin’ my money on the gyroscopes.

Hey, I have that exact mouse. Works pretty well too.

Iwata never said it wouldn’t use a touch screen, he said there wouldn’t be a screen on the controller.
Dejital - 03.18.05 9:22 pm
A touch screen? Thats not that revolutionary. But the gryoscope rumors are on the money, now that would be revolutionary

Check my site to read about the possibility of gyroscope controllers.

It really bugs me how everyone thinks they have the scoop, and then reports it as gospel. I mean, it’s okay to speculate, but places like joystiq reporting it are going to make people actually believe it.
James Montagna - 03.18.05 11:57 pm
obviously, joystiq is reporting it for site hits and links.
i could pull a spong and put ridiculous rumors all over my site too, if i wanted more traffic.

why only the revolution is the only console that has such rumors !!!???? GUESS THAT EVERYBODY IS WAITING FOR NINTENDO TO SET THE CLOCK AGAIN HEIN!!??

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, I love how Nintendo never shows its cards up until the last moment.
Does anyone have a rumor mill pile with early DS mentions? It would be interesting to see who was correct and who wasn’t.
As for what Nintendo is actually doing, all my sources say it’ll be quite interesting. Sadly, they don’t even know details. They do know that certain publishers are a little skeptical about the whole idea. Of course, we’ve all already heard that.

I think the controller is going to be made of wood. Nothing beats the revolutionary power of wood.
Chuck - 03.19.05 1:50 pm
WHAT i HEARD IS THAT THE CONTROLLER IS MADE OF TWO PARTS ONE IN EACH HAND AND HAVE GYRATION TECHNOLOGY BUILT-IN AND SOME NEW STUFF…..
DRUMGOD - 03.20.05 1:42 am
Well, the article’s mentioning that a touchscreen would be used to make your own custom controller for each game is pretty awesome. Or maybe the whole controller is all just clear and touch sensative. And gyroscopic. Imagine an arc-shaped controller with two analog sticks and that’s it. Each game has its own controller setup, and when the game loads up, ‘buttons’ appear on the controller, completely customized for the game. I think it could be cool.

Nintendo designs the consoles from the controller up. They are always looking for better ways for people to interface with games. I have no worries that the Revolution controller will be innovative, intuitive and inexpensive. I simply have no idea what it will be, just like I could have never imagined the N64 or GameCube controllers.
Kamalot - 03.20.05 1:50 pm
IT WILL BE AWSOME, AND ONCE AGAIN SONY AND MICROSOFT WILL COPY IT AGAIN, AND THEY WILL LOOK LIKE SH&^$T . like did sony and add two analogs after the release of the n64 haha so pathetic !!!!!!!
DRUMGOD - 03.20.05 2:50 pm
In a recent blog post I spelled out in great detail exactly what I think the Revolution’s key feature will be, and how it will work. If anyone’s willing to put money down on this sort of thing, I’m almost confident enough in my predictions to take offers
