[Now Listening To | John Legend]

We all know the PSP is about to launch here in the US. However, if I was going to get a portable that took the swiss-army knife approach that included movie and music playback and a camera, I think Id pick up the Gizmondo instead.
As far as games go, they have Sega and Microsoft support (which means games like Sonic, MechAssualt and possibly Halo) and some fresh IPs. They also have Worms: World Party! This thing has GPS/GPRS/WAP/Bluetooth connections, which makes playing multiplayer Worms on the go very possible. Sweet.
Anyway, I have no idea if or when this is coming to the US. It launches in the UK on March 19th. The downside? Well, Im not sure if will catch on with game developers and its damn expensive ($399). Anyone heard anything about this or planning on picking on up?
In the end Im sure Ill stick with my DS and eventually pick up the Gameboy Evolution, but its cool to see other competent competitors out there.
Daniel Schroeder of MobileMilitia pointed out the Tapwave Zodiac too…check the ‘comments’ to see what he had to say. If your in the market for a decent PDA, the Zodiac seems to be a good choice. Too bad it doesnt seem to have many games. Gadget mania! Weee.

i played with it a little. they only had stuntcar extreme on there at the time, so it was nothing new (since i have it on the zodiac). i thought it was a little goofy. the screen is a bit small for what i’d want it for, and i don’t need gprs, wap, or gps. i’d rather wait to see if nintendo and/or sony makes a browser for their handheld(s). on the ds, it would be nice for displaying long pages; on the psp, the high resolution and huge screen would be great for browsing the net.
the gizmondo has some interesting games ahead, but not enough for me to want a $400 system that sports a lot of features i’ll never use.

How is the Zodiac? I dont know much about that one.

to put it simply…if you want a pda, the zodiac is your best option (in my opinion). the official game library is slim, but there are a lot of palm os games that are made for hi-res systems (480×320) as well as ones that are made to take advantage of zodiac-specific features. you can buy a video player (it’s cheap and you get free updates for life) that plays divx and a lot of other codecs, and there’s a built-in mp3 player. the screen is beautiful, and the analog stick is better than any analog stick i’ve ever used.

Yes, i played with one of those analog sticks at Office Max….It is AWESOME. Why OH WHY couldnt sony have made their like that??? its too bad ass.

they could not simply because all sony gaming hardware is crap especially joystics .. viva la wavebird

i don’t know about that…the psx/ps2 controller ranks among my all-time favorite controllers (after the n64).
