[Now Playing| Minish Cap - DS]

A couple of days ago I reported that Nintendo had registered a ‘game’ by the name of Lineus. I thought it was a possible name change for Polarium. Well, Darkain had a different take.
Darkain pointed out that it may be something from the company Lineus. What could it be? Possibly a web broswer or something to enable online play. Very exciting if this speculation is true. Keep your fingers crossed.

well, a good clue would be the letters on the right hand side:
M2M: Mobile-to-Mobile
DRM: Digital Rights Management
AMR: Adaptive MultiRate (which appears to be a speech/sound compression codec especially designed for wireless networks).
Only paper I found refrencing AMR for real would be here. The paper is about “Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET)”…. hmm.

AMR is what my old phone saved memos as. so jason’s got it right about sound compression. i recorded a voice mail message as a memo and copied it to my computer. there’s a freeware app that does amr to wav conversion. from that diagram above, i’d guess it is some sort of media service for the ds.

oh man kydd, why’d you have to pop our balloon. It’s much more fun to think of schemas for an adhoc wireless DS network than just another game for the system. Oh well, seems that’s what always happens.
