Damn…$250 for the system and $50 for most games!
With this pricing Sony is officially going for a much older audience with a fatter wallet. Im not going to say it wont work for them, but its certainly a nice break for the DS. Once we get the second generation titles for the DS there wont be enough of a difference to warrant that kind of price jump.
Im sure that all of the major gaming media will shrug this off though. The PSP can do no wrong in their eyes and it is truly the next evolution in portable gaming.
Bah. Enjoy your all-in-one media player and the free Spider-Man 2 UMD. Ill be over here watching Spider-Man 2 on my big screen tv and playing innovative games on my DS.

Are games really going to be 50 dollars? If so…thats fucking ridiculous. (sp?)
Bah….give me more DS games NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it’s been said that games will retail anywhere from 40 to 50 dollars.
Even then, I agree with you. I can understand (and not like at the same time) paying that kind of price for a console game, but to spend that much on a handheld game is just plain absurd. You can spend less and get much more innovative titles on DS over the same old tired junk that may or may not have already been done on PS2.

I think Sony’s big mistake is selling only the value pack. I think that at $185, the PSP would have a better chance at competing with the DS. $250 is too much. It also hurts that PSP games are just as, if not more, expensive than DS games.

Interesting topic… I’m working in this industry myself and I don’t agree about this in 100%, but I added your page to my bookmarks and hope to see more interesting articles in the future…
