Supposedly someone in Japan saw a copy of Nintendo’s documents for their sharholder meeting. In this document it talked about the Revolution, or according to this, the ‘Nintendo 21.’ Heres what was leaked:
- Name of machine is “Nintendo 21″
- planned for release at end of 2005
- medium is 2-sided 8cm disc, 5.4GB capacity, in a shellcase
- includes “Home Game function” which uses IEEE protocol to locate and communicate with other Nintendo 21s in the vicinity
- “Home Game function” is free, connect the AC adaptor and the machine talks to nearby Nintendo 21s and “Nintendo Home”s (? could be Form instead of Home - katakana is vague). Save data is stored on the main unit and affects other machines over the network.
- “Nintendo Home” machine is like a base station that will be put in many places and uses the PHS network for communication (popular mobile phone network). Will connect to handheld game machines and supports “Home Game function”, also sends latest info from Nintendo.
- “Nintendo Home” is being jointly developed with Kyosera.
- controller is like GC controller but “rubbing” is possible - e.g. you can control movement in a game by rubbing the controller/buttons. Also the controller has a slot.
- The whole controller is pressure sensitive. So rubbing can be done with the buttons or via grip.
- Digital outputs included
Haha. Here is the picture that the guy drew from memory after seeing the documents:
I draw pretty
I have to say that the server idea for a system is something I could see Nintendo doing. And while Im afraid of a ‘rubbing’ controller…I could see them doing this too. Im certainly holding off judgement on this news, but still interesting none the less.

Sounds interestng. Either way, we won’t know if it’s true until this spring.
Joseph Valencia - 01.26.05 9:52 am
What’s wrong with rubbing a controller? The entire thing is covered with a pressure sensitive layer…..sounds like a great idea to me.
Matt Luckett - 01.26.05 10:58 am
It does sound like a great idea. I can’t wait to see how Nintendo utilized the feature.
Townsend - 01.26.05 8:45 pm
I could imagine Nintendo have their very own, localised network since they dont seem to want to spend all the money Microsoft can setting up and maintaining servers for a service like Xbox Live… how it would work exactly would be another story….
Suicidal ShiZuru - 01.26.05 11:30 pm
It could be cool. It would be nice to see that there was a whole range of pressure sensitive areas (maybe the whole controller) instead of just a few spots replacing the buttons.
Nick Luckett - 01.27.05 1:26 am
I used to have faith that even though I didn’t understand what Nintendo was doing at first it would make sense at the end. That was until the DS. The whole two screens and touchpad thing made me think they had something great up their sleeve even if I couldn’t figure out what it was. Now it seems like they didn’t have any great idea beyond some gimmicky minigames. The pressure sensitive controller sounds cool but PS2 has analog face buttons that no one even uses. What’s the point of making the whole controller pressure sensitive? How would you know where one button began and another one ends? Also I wouldn’t be suprised if this whole article was BS
Ian - 01.27.05 3:36 am
Pressure sensitivity combined with rumble functionality. The possibilities are endless there alright.
The tagline for the Revolution “Nintendo Revolution… not just for kids anymore! *wink, wink*”. :p
Morose - 01.27.05 8:33 am
Well, Ian, I have to agree a bit. The hype for the DS was so huge that I was expecting something that…I dont know, could teleport me around while keeping me occupied with holographic games.
However, now that I have the DS I really do enjoy it and I think that a touch screen will be a standard on portable games from now on. Its just such a simple and intuitive thing that it really adds to portable gaming.
So, while Nintendo has made some bad and/or wierd desicions in the past, I still have much faith. We will just have to wait and see.
Nick Luckett - 01.27.05 8:37 am
that sounds almost real..this could be a hot item..I just cant wait untill E3
Kydd - 01.27.05 10:10 am
Wheres the source of this document, we know its from Japan but what ealse. can we get a site or something?
Bad Blood - 01.27.05 10:56 am
I think that this is not but a big BS ’cause, why Nintendo would make presure sensitive the controler when there is supposed to be a conectivity between de DS and the future console Revolution? it makes no sense.
B10H4Z4RD - 01.27.05 11:56 am
B10H4Z4RD: OOOH it would be SWEEEEEEt to use the DS as a controller for revolution!
Ian: The DS is not a gimmick. You will just have to wait for software to see how innovative the hardware is. Dualscreen + touchscreen has never been done before, and I cant wait for games like Sim City, C&C: Red Alert, Quake, RPGs even. If you ever noticed that a mouse is a good control mechanism for ALL KINDS of games, then you might be able to see what is possible on DS…and perhaps more! (actually definately more, because stylus on the screen is better than a mouse because the touch and the action are directly related rather than shifted and disconnected from eachother)
William Luckett - 01.27.05 2:07 pm
Wow, I just checked the stats for the site and there are about five sites linking to this article! Nice. If you are new here, then Hello! Come back and check out the site from time to time.
Nick Luckett - 01.27.05 6:16 pm
Well if any of this is true, then im extreamly interested.
You people need to use your creativity when it comes to thinking about a completely tuch sensitive controller. Imagine a game where if you squeeze the left or right side of the controller an action happens. Like lets say, Star Fox, when your flying around squeeze the left, or right, and it rolls to either side. Think of a boxing game for dogging to the left and right. How about throttle control, the harder you squeeze the faster it accelerates.
Tom the Yeti - 01.27.05 8:56 pm
So who can translate japanese and help decipher the text in the drawing?
polish broadcast - 01.27.05 9:37 pm
With this I get the image of every little kid playing Nintendo. Like how they all think moving the controller left or right will help. Maybe it will now! Plus they can be spastic and squeeze harder and Mario will run faster.
Nick Luckett - 01.27.05 10:07 pm
Alright, well you (webmaster(s) of Joystiq.com) may or may not know this, but the reason Nintendo is making this is to “change the way we play games.” Nintendo corporation stated that gaming intrigue has kind of sunk in Japan, and they are expecting a similar crash in the gaming market in North America as well. In order to prevent that, Nintendo believes that they must provide the gamer with a unique, innovative experience.
Will Coury - 01.28.05 12:07 am
Okay guys… yeah maybe this new “feeling” instead of “touching” might be a bit gimicky. The thing is that Nintendo sees that gaming is loosing popularity every year because average people are turned off by their complexity (dual analog control on Halo 2). If you think the DS isn’t revolutionary you’re wrong. You can give a DS to ANYONE with a game like Warioware Touched! and they will have a blast. Nintendo is making gaming more appealing to everyone now.
One thing that was rumored about the “Revolution” was the ability to play every Nintendo game… COMPLETE backwards compatablity. I think Nintendo is a fool for not making an optional add on to the system that will allow you to plug in every Nintendo Cartridge ever made. If you think about it Nintendo is the only gaming company that has a massive library of games that continues to grow since the mid 80’s.
Sony has PSX, PS2, PS3 games…
Microsoft has Xbox & XBox 2 games…
Sega is dead in the console wars…
Nintendo has NES, SNES, N64, VB, GB, GBC, GBA, GCN…
Clint M Chilcott - 01.28.05 10:18 am
If a touch sensitive control is the thing that is going to make a revolution, I doubt it, Nintendo has something else that is better, if this controller thing is true.
macattacts10 - 01.28.05 12:12 pm
Haha, looks like someone went and registered www.nintendo21.com. It wasnt Nintendo, just some guy on the net hoping to make a few bucks. Not a bad move in theory, cept it most likely wont pan out for him.
Nick Luckett - 01.28.05 1:18 pm
2 questions:
1. how much is a controller gonna cost (if it’s 50 buck, you can count out my getting 4 of them) Heck, if it’s more than $30 I wouldn’t buy more than 2.
2. How long is it gonna last. Sure Nintendo is appealing to the more casual gamer, but what about the hard-core market? If they give that up, they are risking it big. Going toe to toe with Sony, without the fans that made them, and keep them going.
My reasoning on that? I loved my N64 and GCN, but the controllers don’t last very long in fully-functional condition. I need a new set every year. That’s a pretty hefty chunk of change. Now, with the N64 controllers, I could call customer support and get new control sticks. Easy to replace modules mad that controller the bomb. The GCN? Nope. I do periodically rotate the Control stick with the C-stick. It evens out the wear, but it requires de-soldering and re-soldering 10 connections per stick. Sheesh! A touch sensitive skin would make the only option replacement. That would mean full replacement if one single thing went wrong. No way to repare it, nothing. (on a side note, that’s what sucks about DDR–the pads, every pad, without exception, sucks butt compared to the price you gotta pay for it) Tell me Nintendo, how long will it last? 30 bucks a year is cool for a controller. 30 bucks a month is too much.

This topic has now been posted over in the forums, if anyone wants to jump over there to talk about it.

Nick Luckett - 01.28.05 3:00 pm
Wow, you wear out your controllers that fast?!
You bring up a good point though, the controllers WOULD probably be expensive. Also, if the Revolution is gonna have that much backwards compatibility, its not gonna be cheap either.
Looks like Nintendo is following Microsoft’s lead in charging wack amounts for good stuff (although Nintendo’s prices are reasonable, Xbox’s debut prices were….not)
TheShadowZero - 01.28.05 8:43 pm
Maybe, for the first time, we could see Nintendo take a loss on hardware? Hmmm, not likely. However, if they were that confident in the Revolution that would be cool.
Nick Luckett - 01.28.05 10:32 pm
All we have to say is that 4 color rebellion and nick luckett kick some serious ass. And we hear his girlfriend is really hot.
Yeah, and this whole *nintendo21* thing, if it is for real, should be awesome.
Peace.
charynn&chris - 01.28.05 10:40 pm
Haha. Now they are coming out of the woodwork. Thanks for the vote of confidence Charynn. Did you see Aj’s halloween pics on here? Search for Halloween on the front page.

i did see them, awhile ago actually. i make it a point to check this website of yours. it’s a very fun website, and i try to keep updated on my gaming news. gamespot is a huge deal. you make quite the green lantern, you know. i hardly noticed the blinding whiteness of your skin. and i like capslock. quit being a nintendork and leave my capslock on. oh and check your email tomorrow. aj will fill you in.

I’ve posted a translation of the notes on the sketch on the 4 Colour Rebellion forums if anyone wants to have a look.
pattokun - 01.29.05 2:16 am
I think that this could actually be for real… except somewhere i read that the DS wont be able to connect to the Revolution.. i dont remember where i read that but i was kinda bummed out out… i think that it might of been on ign or some magazine… but i really cant remember. The name Nintendo 21 would make sense because Nintendo has been searching for an older audience with the “Touching is Good” slogan for the DS. I think that they are hoping that the 21 will make poeple think that it is aimed at an older age group. Makes sense. That controller thing will be awesome if it is true. I can see Samus charging up her beam while having to squeeze the right side of the controller. A fighting game could be pulled of pretty well with more powerful punches/kicks with a harder grip.
kiddovol2 - 01.29.05 11:01 am
I still think that there’s more on the N21…
The picture is not working for me, can anybody help me?
 - 01.29.05 11:20 am
” William Luckett Says:
…If you ever noticed that a mouse is a good control mechanism for ALL KINDS of games…”
Yeah, sure… I see myself playing Soul Calibur 2 with a mouse…. NOT!
daCuk - 01.29.05 12:38 pm
Couple things….
1. The “Nintendo Home” functionality? Awesome idea and a great way to play into the community gaming setting video games are heading towards without investing the time and $$$ into full online. But depending how big this “vicinity” is, wouldn’t this suck for, say, a lucky kid’s birthday gift way out in the boonies?
2. Full-pressure sensitive controllers? I dunno. Say you’re playing Mario Party 8, and your finger is a little sweaty. “No Mario! Don’t run backwards! My finger slipped!!” And yea, a controller like that is probably gonna run you a pretty penny.
3. “Nintendo 21″? Stick with the “Revolution”, although with underground media websites dubbing their next GB “the Game Boy Evolution” it’ll be awkward playing the name game trying to tell your folks what games you want for X-Mas.
Quick Man - 01.29.05 12:52 pm
Gee, nice pictures. Those REALLY help.
bleh - 01.29.05 2:18 pm
I bet this is…made up by someone…no one draws that bad…and why would they call in Nintendo 21…that sounds like a step down from 64….and stuff…..and the rubbing….it could only be used maybe in like scary games to know when you are tense….and when to scare you….so something like that…I cant think of and other use….inless in a RPG…grabing the controller…in blocking…yeah…this cant be real…someone just based it on what other leaks have said
Marshall - 01.29.05 4:00 pm
It all sounds like made up fan ‘nonsence’ to me. Like the time I told my cousin that you could unlock everyone on LOZ OOT, this too is pure bull. The DS is Nentendo’s current ‘main system’. Between everyone in the company Nentendo doesn’t have the brains to pull themselves out of the Game Cube failure and will soon be just like Sega… a puppet on the strings. Don’t bother responding to this unless you mail me (zeotronics@netscape.net) because I will not be back to read it… Despite the fact I’m sure this message will make some ripples… Like Mario’s flabby but jumping into a painting.
Zeo of Zeo's Comics - 01.29.05 8:29 pm
Thank you for that thoughtful and well written rant Zeo. Im sad that you wont be back.
Nick Luckett - 01.29.05 8:57 pm
Wow, it sounds great, but why the hell would it be called the Nintendo “21″?
That simple fact makes it sound like a bunch of bs. Unless it has something to do with the number of people who can play…like in a deathmatch or something…that would be pimp.
Neo - 01.29.05 10:15 pm
I bet the name is just poking fun of the original “Revolution.” Anyone listen to Morning Musume’s “Love Revolution 21?” Yeah? There you go
dema - 01.29.05 10:28 pm
Does anyone ken what all the exact writting is on that picture??
MC - 01.30.05 7:12 am
THe reason that this rings true is that Nintendo is dead set against true online gaming. But seriously, a Nintendo Gaming Community? There aren’t enough GCN’ers in a any given square mile radius to pull this off. After to Failed (Yes Failed) console attempts, do you think enough people are going to run out and buy their next system? I think not. They are trying to reach casual gamers, but only the hardcore are going to buy the system. PS. gaming numbers are not falling, they are rising. Don’t say thing s that aren’t true without doing your research.
GamerMAn - 01.30.05 7:52 am
The “revolutionary” DS that “is not” the successor to the Game Boy (despite it’s sideways compatibility) is simply a diversion. Just likt the GBA sucked up our money only to be followed less than a year later by the SP, another gameboy is on the way. As Nintendo talks about how graphics don’t matter, I promise you that they are working on a handheld to compete with the PSP from a graphical stand point. THe DS was just something thrown out to try and hold the PSP at bay. Nintendo knew that they would be able to throw a bunch of N64 ports on it without much work (Just like SN ports on th GBSP). Remember the revolutionary GBA connector cable that would change the way we play? Right. Then after evryone buys it and noone uses it, they release the wireless adapter. Thank Big N. Nintendo makes products that they know we will buy then renders them obsolete. GBA 2001, GBASP 2002, DS 2004, NExt one @))%. THat is a rediculous console turn around time. Wake up.
GamerMAn - 01.30.05 8:00 am
totaly right, finally someone relized !
killer - 01.30.05 1:12 pm
as a hardcore nintendo freak I was expecting the feeling controller, and motion sensitive like the technology used in the upcoming yoshi gameboy port, that will be a revolution tilt the controller to turn squeez to make the caracter , this will change the gaming experience forever, and do not forget that nintendi is the inventor of the video gaming as is it is today and sony and micrsoft just copy what nintendo did and will do in the futur and fir the record the sony playstation is a nintendo project with sony , so I believe that we are going to witness a complete 360 in the gaming industry but we all know that junk will sell better like sony and VIVA LA REVOLUTION !!!!!!
Silversurfer - 01.30.05 1:26 pm
The 21 probaly stands for 21st century.
zerotype - 01.30.05 2:25 pm
I dont think that the “21″ is the official name, and also another thing in official nintendo press release the nintendo revolution will not keep the gamecube shape but on the leaked sketch it is almost a gamecube !!!!!!
Silversurfer - 01.30.05 2:48 pm
it makes no sense, it would be retarded to release it at the end of 2005. I mean, the new zelda is gonna come out at around that time and releasing revolution would just screw up their sales for both.
Daniel - 01.30.05 5:20 pm
the new zelda will be playable on both consoles gcn and revolution
Silversurfer - 01.30.05 11:54 pm
I think a successor to the gameboy isn’t very likely unless the PSP ends up killing DS sales, and currently it isn’t the DS is selling very well, and would be foolish of them to release a another handheld, people with the DS aren’t going to go out a buy another handheld from the same company with no backwards compatbility. The Nintendo SP was one thing because it was just GBA only with a new look, if they made a successor to the GBA it would be completely different, and leaving developers indifferent on which handheld to make their games for. Mind you their will be a successor to the GBA but not for a few years. As for the Revolution, I have to say the whole thing about the name ‘Nintendo 21′ is a lie, or a misunderstanding, because thats the worst name ever. The design looks stupid and unlikely they would do a cube again. A controller that is touch sensitive would be cool, if the controller was like a screen and could show custom controller setups, expensive and unlikely though. Really the whole thing is unlikely but has anyone read on IGN about the revolution rumors, their is patent that gets rid of split screens and a fixed camera angle, the only way I could see getting rid of split screens would be that the DS can do something like what is described in another PSP patent where the PSP lets the PS3 do the processing and the PSP shows the results maybe the DS can do the same thing so that it can be used as another screen for your nintendo revolution games? dunno, sounds like it would be really cool though. Im actually a little disappointed with WiFi i would want to connect to the net from anywhere, not just near a wireless pod which in the US can be rare. I feel connecting to it like a cell phone or something wouldve been better. Really I think it gives Ngage the upper end in online gaming even though no one has one
. Srry to bother yall with all my blabble
DeadEnd - 01.31.05 1:09 am
In all honesty, speculation is speculation. No one can prove this guy’s credibility, so I wouldn’t dwell too much on these rumors. However, I have to agree with GamerMAn. Nintendo claims to be the pinnacle of innovation, though I’m beginning to notice some trends developing. Nintendo has marketed FOUR separate pieces of hardware in the past four years (GBA, GCN, SP, DS), not including the myriad add-ons that accompanied these systems. What happened to the “gaming revolution” promised when the e-Reader and the GCN-GBA link cable were released? Why didn’t the GBA follow the design of the SP in the first place? And what, exactly, was the point of the Gameboy Player? I suppose I’m particularly bitter about all this because I fell prey to the propoganda and bought most of these products…:). Nevertheless, Nintendo needs to step up to the plate and take action on its “paradigm,” or thesis, or whatever you want to call all this talk of “innovation.” How can Nintendo be innovative if it hasn’t released an original franchise (with new characters, story, etc.) in several years? Please, Nintendo, revive my dwindling faith in you, or I shall be forced to patronize some other evil capitalist gaming corporation…
sharpdude89 - 01.31.05 9:00 pm
I think its good because nintendo need to step up there game if they want to win the war. Also if nintendo put there best game every 2 year they will be good. 3 games that will be on the nintendo 21 at the launch will be mario 21, Zelda, and super smash brothers. Its a good chance.
Lord Cerrome - 02.01.05 7:28 am
If you wondering how much the N21 going to cost is 200 dollars. Nintendo product are going to be least espensive then the others(microsft and sony). I believe in nintendo if they try hard to keep them alive. Nintendo have perfect games that will be good online like mario kart, animal crossing, zelda, metriod prime, mario party, starfox, and even pokemon
Lord Cerrome - 02.01.05 9:40 am
Hey this is just a speculation and nintendo is not that stupid to name a console “21″ and show the speaks to a person and risk a leak, and also the next nintendo is beyond what we can imagine … so let’s be patient and wait until E3 ok !!!!??
Silversurfer - 02.02.05 12:14 am
I think the info’s true. Something about it just tells me it’s the real thing. The drawing really looks like something that was drawn from memory. This is kind of like putting together the pieces of a puzzle. So far, the pieces that FIT in my view are Nintendo 21, the patent update, and the article in Famitsu(or whatever publication it was) about the absence of a d-pad and a/b buttons. The pieces that DO NOT fit are what was ‘leaked’ on the Nintendo Power forums. They sound like wishful thinking from somebody who wants Nintendo to be like Microsoft. Everything about the ‘napkin sketch’ works, somehow. The info is simple, to the point and full of ‘unknowns’ that make sense if the plans were really seen for just a sec. Additionally, the name is GREAT. I work for Interbrand, my professional life is making names. Most suck, this one doesn’t. It’s simple, futuristic, pertinent(21 years of NES, looking forward to the 21st century…), and puts the focus on playing NINTENDO. And it’s perfectly in line with the DS–Nintendo is trying to bring it’s brands all together again, hence the new N I N T E N D O plus 2 digits appoach. The way the guy wrote that the logotype looks very similar to the DS logotype is no coincidence.
Anyways, this is all getting really interesting. 4 Color Rebellion is a great new site! It’s simple, no-frills-attached and cool.
namor7 - 02.02.05 2:56 am
I saw the pic of the next Nintendo ide and I think is going to use 3D Glasses. And maybe is going to have two A/V Cables on a single console, so you dont have to play split screens anymore.
Maybe im wrong and i am just imagining too much things on my head.
Impe5 - 02.02.05 4:36 am
If the nintendo revolution come out at the end of 2005, super smash brother is going to awsome with 8 player lan or online. First person am going to use is Ness or Geist, you know there going to be alot of new characters. Xbox 2 come out at the end of this and they have the line up of the games they going to have at the launch. Nintendo is my favorite systems and I hope they do right thing. I would just like to say that I believe Nintendo will take their crown back. They were, and still are, my favorite gaming company. I believe that the Revolution will be just that. I think that Sony and Microsoft are getting complacent and repetitive with their games and their ideologies. Namely, make it look prettier, and everyone will keep buying our new, more expensive, hardware and software. They had better watch it, the sleeping giant is now waking up, and he is pissed. I am waiting for the Revolution that is sure to set things right.
Thanks for your time in reading this.

Don’t get me wrong, i’m a big nintendo fan. They’ve been making systems for many a year, almost exclusively following the same format (direction pad, analogue or otherwise, and some buttons). They finally wanna do something to change this, to ‘revolutionise’ how we think of gaming hardware. The problem is that they don’t want to ‘revolutionise’ the games to compliment it. I’m looking forward to the DS (don’t have it yet here in the UK) but, frankly, the opening line-up looks terrible. When I first heard of a touch screen, I was hoping for some Black and white style gesture recognition (the new castlevania does seem to have something of that ilk, thank god).
The ‘21′? I hope they do have preasure sensitive pads. When I was just a gaming youth, on the old sonic 1, I thought the console should be able to tell how hard I was squeezing the pad (out of stress, damn you robotnik) and should react to that. 10 years too late, it can finally do that. the ‘Home’ idea is just the logical extension of the DS’s wireless connectivity. I know of about 6 guys on my street with ‘cubes. it’d be great if we could just network up whenever and lay down some smash brothers.

and ‘truth teller’; interesting metaphor with the caveman thing… could nintendo be making sony obsolete before the PS3 has even been revealed? and even if they are, does it matter? Sony has a large enough fanboy following. they could probably release a playstation flavoured ice-cream and still make a killing off it. Nice oppinion, but please learn to articulate it. reading your posts hurts my eyes.
Jonny Monoxide - 02.05.05 3:15 pm
One could, if one was very optomistic, say that the lack of nintendo innovation in terms of game ideas has been to allow them to think of something really spectacular for 21. If one was really optomistic. Which I am not.
Divad - 02.06.05 12:48 am
the PSP at $250 that remind me of another black handheld released in the eighties, mmm… yeah the GAMEGEAr!!!! history repeats itself and we all know what happened to that black handheld …… about the revolution nintendo is THE VIDEO GAME MAKER AND INVENTOR, so I do believe that we gonna witness a complete turnaround in the next generation and I’m not sorry to say that I’d like to see nintendo dominate the market again because all the ps1 and ps2 owners do not know what they are missing , I tryed once the playstation joystick and believe me it is a piece of junk !!! the analogs are crappy the buttons are like small m’n'ms , compare to the almighty wavebird !!!! and not forget the xbox controller ha ha ha , a kid could design a better controller, anyway VIVA LA REVOLUTION AND BY TEH WAY THE 21 NAME IS BOGUS .
Silversurfer - 02.06.05 1:32 am
Gamecube is designed for kids, hence the bright colors and the big buttons that way kids ahve an easy time hitting them. Gamegear lasted 30 minutes on 8 AA batteries, didn’t play mini-dvd movies and mp3s.
Vash - 02.07.05 1:33 am
And the PSP has such an awesome battery life…
unless you plan on playing games on it, watching Movies, or listening to any form of music. Just looking at the DS next to the PSP, you can see whos been making handhelds longer. The screen on the PSP is horribly exposed, it’d get scratched to hell after a month of use. the SP taught nintendo to use protected screens to make them last. Also, I don’t know WHO sony thinks is gonna buy the PSP at $250… their simply arn’t that many rich idiots left in the world.
Jonny Monoxide - 02.07.05 11:06 am
lol, before you post you should research the topic. About 5 different companies have already made covers/protectors/holders for the psp. 8 hours sounds like a decent battery life to me, then again I don’t play for HOURS on end so this probably won’t effect me much.
Vash - 02.07.05 12:48 pm
I agree with “Jonny Monoxide”, nintendo is the by far the best hardware and software maker, the PSP despite its huge screen and mp3 and movie capabilities, is a very sensitive and fragile machine, and the loading time are huge, if you look in the past nintendo made its way in the handheld market slowly but surely , how do you explain 4 bit monochrome gameboy beats The SEGA Gamegear with its nice backilt color screen !!?? the answer is PORTABILITY and battery life and a huge list of 3rd parties games, wich is the same story with the DS and the PSP , nintendo will lower the price of the DS in the next months with new color choices and new peripherics ( I heard about an analog stick wich plug in the gameboy cartridge port ) , and the PSP will sell but not as much as they hope because it have to compete first with the gameboy wich is far from dead. and we gonna see the revolution wich is a very different way of gaming ( feeling is better ) and as it happened in the past sony and microsoft will follow the new path made by nintendo , and also don’t forget SEGA wich is planning to comeback on the hardware war ( SEGA SAMMY) , but ass always no body has the secret ingredient that nintendo has and history repeats itself ……
DRUMGOD - 02.07.05 4:06 pm
The success of sony is due to luck , yes they are the luckiest company in the world!!! because they have released their Playstation at a time when nintendo was resting from all the success of the super famicom, and developping the nintendo 64 ( wich is by the my favorite console ever , OOT,mario64,badfurday, goldeneye…..) , exeptional titles made by NINTENDO AND RARE , , so the 3rd parties developper think only about profit, so develop in a console that sell the most, it is a fact , and we know the rest of the story , if we take the playstation 1&2 , they are a real piece of junk , crappy controller( copied fron the snes) later enhanced with analogs ( frm the N64) and the machine is a nest of program bugs and huge lack of design, the ps2 for exemple , try to turn it on or off , where is the on/off button it’s so tiny !!!! same thing for the xbox wich by the i do not concider as a videogame console, for me it is a pc converted to play games, so do not forget who is NINTENDO. and show some respect to the company that braught to you all this fun wich is videogaming , even if you are a sony or xbox fan……….
DRUMGOD - 02.07.05 4:31 pm
in response to “Vash” , the gamecube is designed for kids !!!!!! waw so there is 7 millions kids who own the gamecube in the world and 60 millions of grown up who own the ps2 !!!!?? that;’s what you are saying !!??? and by kids you mean what ages , kids like you per haps !!!??? really when you are not aware of something do not talk about it , just listen and learn , and the NINTENDO WAVEBIRD is the most advanced and well designed controller ever, and the DS is for kids too !!??? waw I never saw a kid with a pda !!!!!!!! did you ??…………………
DRUMGOD - 02.07.05 5:46 pm
daCuk,
The DS stylus is pure genious. We’re not talking about Soul Caliber here, we’re talking about games that play well with a touch senstive controller, ie. mouse, touch pad. Ever played a game on the PC before?
Don’t be an idiot.
derek - 02.15.05 10:54 pm
Vash is a fool. First, the GameGear had 6 batteries and played for 2 hours, get your facts stright BEFORE you console bash. Example: It has been PROVEN in a hands on test with a PSP that after 3.5 hours with the PSp playing Ridge Racer with lights on and volume all the way up, that the system cut out. over 8,000 PSP’s were sent back in Japan due to a square button that didnt work because of that stupid screen among other reasons. ALSO, watching a movie in 2 hours having to hold it up and looking for good lighting sounds like no fun at all. Dont you dare mess with Nintendo fanboys, we are the best.

yeah sony can come up with super good graphic but if they decide to do another handheld they are probably going to copy nintendo in various ways
and by that nintendo will have a new system out that sony will have to copy next history just repets itself
and about the ds’s graphics no company has tried them to the fullest!look at the gameboy advance graphics now ? they are 3-D
only time will tell
pds - 02.21.05 3:53 pm
we all know that sony own 70% of the market and nintendo is second worldwide and the third seller in the US, but this time for the next generation sony and microsoft are keeping the same gaming basics and enhancing just the graphics, I’m personnally BORED by the way we play videogames since I was 10 years old niothing changed although some NINtendo innovation as always!!! teh basics still the same, console+controller, the NINTENDO DS is very refreshment for me , new ways to play games, that what we all want, that’s what NINTENDO is cooking for the next generation and I do beleive taht they will not make the same mistake to release the revolution without any big nintendo ports like zelda or mario or even starting a new franchise, why not, and the giant dragon will wake up from his resting sleap and burn all the insolent and copy-based so called videogames companies……………..
silversurfer - 02.23.05 1:38 pm
HOW IS THERE GOING TO BE A NINTENDO 21 IF THERES A 64. THE ARTICLE IS TRULY BS.
Joseph - 03.01.05 5:23 pm
Easy–21st Century is a much bigger concept than that of a 64 bit processor.
namor7 - 03.02.05 12:00 am
Those discs looked more like the mini discs that are supposed to be the mediam for nintendo gameboy evolution, the new gameboy. Wouldn’t 5 gb gameboy games of near gamecube quality graphics be exciting?
The Revolution is using blue laser Tech so hopefully it uses the 50 gb blu-ray or the hd-dvd not 5 gig discs.
SonGohan - 03.03.05 10:20 am
anyone who buys into ps3 if revolution trully does have a gyro controller and other gaming inovations is to me a total jackoff stain its like someone driving a car with squre wheels wen other guys are driving cars with round ones THINK ABOUT IT sony still bases its interface around a d-pad that is the most backward anti true gaming load of bollox iv seen dualshock is totally out of date
truth teller - 03.14.05 9:57 am
if sony were working on gyro everysingle gaming site would have mock up pics of wot it maybe nintendo do it everyone dismisses it hummmmm hyercrites come to mind lets not forget everysingle game control now standard came from nintendo anolog/rumble/d-pad etc etc etc they invented gaming as we know it so whos to say they wont do it again they have redefined handhelds with ds so whos going to stop them redefining console interface its all in the common sence part of the human brain but sadly common sence aint that common it makes me cry wen i see idiots bigging up the dualshock im sorry its anologs dont work and are in the wrong place the bottons are small and hard it hurts your hands and has terrable responce compared to cube pad anyone who even dares defend it is a casual gaming moron whos defending it cuzz his a sony fan whos played on dualshock for years still plays using the d-pad derrr no brainer and know no better cubes pad and wavebird are lightyears ahead of the other 2 in comfort and feel and responce to the gamers movments now imagine all that plus wirless plus gyro its all so simple
truth teller - 03.14.05 10:16 am
Dude, I seriously can’t believe you even came close to believing any of this. That console is in such early stages of development and you believe they’ve already designed all the logos and stuff? By the time it comes out they’d have to redo all the graphics because they would be outdated. C’mon kids, don’t believe everything you see.
Mike - 03.19.05 12:39 am
d-pad based controls are for 16bit and handhelds not home consoles ps2 is a mass consumer pile of poo controls still based on d-pad thats just mind numing and i can play 8 hours solid on cube pad and not get even a single twinge play any game on ps2 pad i garantee wrist pain and thumb pain and dents in your thumbs from small horrid buttons in less than 20minutes and anyone who does not agree is a lier blisterd thumbs and wrist pain are a common problem with ps2 controller i would never let my kids play with that pile of crap cubes pad was in dev for 18 months to 2 yrs and it shows best anologs ever most cufy pad ever and the button layout is ginius every game on earth has a main action button so make it big and stick it under right thumb and keep the anolog under left thumb all so simple and the x/y buttons can be pressed without ever leaving the a button giving x/y dual functions and in soccer games you pass with a button and simply rase your thumb to do thru ball and cross on x//y buttons insted of fighting the controller like u do with ps2 pad small hard buttons incorectly placed anolog and poor anolog feel and responce AND THATS A FACT god nows how thell map the res evil 4 controls to that horrid ps2 pad and god nows y people big up ps2s pad it stinks winning 11-6(jap only pro evo 4 cube)plays 10 fold better on cubes pad than the stink ps2 one with naff anologs and small buttons plus 9 out of 10 ps2 freaks play pro evo on the d-pad thats just lame n64 iss 98 had true anolog and great controls iss and pro evo give you hand ack on the ps2 pad and yourthumb slips wen u shoot in a hurry that pad is crap
cubeboy - 03.24.05 8:58 pm
bring on the left and right handed gyro pods or bring on the gyro pod mouse with stand alone touchscreen ether makes perfect sence think about it and keep wavebird and cube pads for traditional back up
cubeboy - 03.24.05 9:01 pm
How likely is it that Nintendo will put up a satellite. This would give everyone connectivity no matter where they lived. Is this too expensive or what? I do believe that Nintendo has more $ than the dish tv companys.
John Gregg - 04.05.05 4:15 am
Nintendo used to own a satellite. Im not sure what happened to it after the SNES days though.
Nick Luckett - 04.05.05 10:11 am
I think that this bogus. I’ve heard rumors of Nintendo doing things like this, but it all just seems obsurd. I think that Nintendo isn’t revealing the real info.

Okay, I don’t know about you guys, but Im still stuck on the idea that the Revolution will be able to communicate with nearby ones… I mean, the idea is just great in general, but lets be honest, X-box and PS2 outsold the gamecubes something like 10:1. How many people will be able to play each other in smaller towns, and how big is the range of this idea are questions remaining unasked.
Patrick - 05.21.05 11:44 am
Oh, and… uh… there are a lot of pictures on nintendo’s website you could “borrow”, seeing as this system is going to obviously be big…
I’m thinking, if they can sell 2,000,000 units with a codename like Dolphin (not that it matters), the Revolution will sell 10x as much

hmm lets see ive had my xbox break down twice my ps2 break 3 times and my game cube break none. i wonder which is the best console based on life and quality.
As for all you stupid idiots who think Nintendo is a has-been video game company your wrong, very wrong and you have obiously just start playing games since this gen, i have a feeling nintendo “Revolution” will be as dominant as the N64 was over the PS1 or PSX… sony and microsoft can put out their console+controller good graphics (btw the controllers r so awkward and uncomfortable) but the revolution and N-DS will dominate based on design, and inovation…. VIVA LA REVOLUTION

i think the name “Nintendo 21″ is very cheesy but other than that, it sounds great
