Just wanted to post a few links to some interesting articles.
First, from Gamespot, we have an interview with the president of Ubisoft talking about EA buying a 20% stake in the company. Have I mentioned I hate EA?

*Update: It looks like Infogrames is getting into the fight and is willing to help Ubisoft fend of EA. Read about it at Reuters.
And over at Nintendojo they have written a nice little article on the merger of Tech TV and G4.

* Here is a petition I found to reverse (or at least display how angry we are) the NFL exclusive license. You guys know I love petitions, haha.

Amen to the writer of that anti-G4techTV article. That channel has collapsed so badly it’s not even funny. If only some mystical force out there would pull the plug once and for all on this forsaken network…
I also agree with you about EA. They are definitely taking this video gaming business in a totally wrong manner. Even though I like some of their series like Madden (except for last year’s game with Sega’s 2K5 being $20), Burnout, SSX, and TimeSplitters, what they’re doing to rival companies is just plain wrong.
It’s sad too. The video games market is the last place I would’ve ever looked to find a company that’s worthy of “Evil Empire” status.

Yeah, there are some EA games I actually like (Street games and Fifa) and a lot of the games they publish are cool. But, I hate this “evil empire” thing they have going. Ergh.

I remember seeing G4 a few months before the merger was announced and how I walked away underwhelmed. Hmmm…. What would I rather do? Use my TV to play video games, or use it to watch shows about video games? Seriously, let’s review the garbage on G4:
1) Judgement Day- XPlay minus the zany antics. Also, it has the guy who composed the score for Cool Spot on it (and he gave Wind Waker a 6/10). What a winner.
2) Electric Playground- Somewhat better than JD, but it’s all previews. X-Play does reviews, previews, special segments, AND zany skits. X-Play’d.
3) Filter- Listed Shen Mue as one of the 10 worst games of all time. There goes any credibility this TRL wannabe could’ve had.
4) Icons- It’s the E! True Hollywood Story done with video games. Also, I don’t think Half-life has been around long enough to be considered an icon…
Tech TV didn’t deserve to be assimilated into this garbage. I mean, Tech had Call for Help, Screensavers, X-Play (the only GOOD video game show on TV), Unscrewed with Martin Sargent, AND Thunderbirds. The only reason I watch G4TechTV these days is for the Tech TV shows. I can only hope that the latter part of this merger will one day be able to recover from this.

I was watching X-Play the other day and Morgan (hot!) did a test to see which console was the strongest. She hit them with a hammer and dropped them and stuff. They did the test twice and both times the Gamecube won. No surprise really, as Nintendo has always made really durable products.
